I was given a free advance copy of this novel in return for an honest review.
I read this book quite quickly. I really enjoyed ‘The Sisters’ from the same author and when I read the blurb for this book I liked the premise and I enjoyed the opening chapters, but it was very obvious from the start that ‘something’ big and secretive had happened and that this was sure to come out at some point around a ‘big reveal’. In addition to that, I found the book a bit rambling, I didn’t really find anything to grip me and it all seemed a bit…I don’t know, sort of cliched. Also, the main character’s reaction to some of the weird things that were going on was odd – she were completely dismissed huge oddities as a bit weird, but tiny things that you would probably not even notice were hugely important to her, which felt a bit forced. I also thought the ‘big’reveal’ was utterly ludicrous – once I realised what was coming I almost didn’t read to the end and when I did it annoyed me.
Not for me I’m afraid but I will be keeping an eye open for this author as I enjoyed ‘The Sisters’ so much!
